Please join the Rhode Island Anti-Sexism League on Thursday, June 21st at Libertalia Autonomous Space for:Unite & Fight: The Case for Solidarity
A Forum on Queer Liberation and FeminismThe LGBT community, much like women’s rights has been treated as a political football while the lives of those who are directly effected get lost. Whether it’s using women’s bodies to sell an idea of beauty while denying women the right to control their own bodies or using gay dads to sell clothing for JC Penny while denying them the right to marry or jointly adopt, oppression unites us!
RIASL along with activist allies and organizers will be holding a forum about historical and future shared struggles of queer people and women against sexism, heterosexism, transphobia and homophobia. Panelists will speak to their experiences organizing against gender and sexual oppression, as well as what a queer anti-sexist grassroots organizing community can do.
The topics addressed will include the common radical roots of the Queer and Women’s Liberation Movements, queer feminism, state and interpersonal violence(s) against women and LGBTQ people, and queering reproductive justice conversations.
Please join the Rhode Island Anti-Sexism League for a great conversation, a radical joining of brilliant minds with the goal of creating a united front against hetero-patriarchy!
