NBC/WSJ poll: Majority, for first time, want abortion to be legal

As the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision takes place on Tuesday, a majority of Americans – for the first time – believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Celebrate Roe v. Wade — Defend Reproductive Rights!

This Tuesday, on the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, anti-choice activists are gathering at the RI statehouse to bemoan women’s continued access to legal abortions. They will call on politicians to enact greater and greater restrictions on reproductive rights, while remaining silent on economic injustice and sexual assault, though these are undoubtedly the real threats to women’s lives and health. Join us in countering their rally with a celebration of the landmark legislation! While we know that legal abortion is not enough, and that reproductive justice depends upon economic justice, full equality, and freedom from violence, the basic right of women to control their own bodies must be defended.

Gather at the State House at 2:30, to greet the media coming to cover the “Right to Life” rally. Bring posters and banners, and, if you like, a statement to share on why you celebrate Roe v. Wade and support safe and legal abortion access.
